4th Fridays at Starline Factory in Harvard, IL

This was the first time I submitted my photography for an in-person art exhibit. The photo below (courtesy of my mom) is me and my "Sligo Bay" photography. The live band kept us entertained as the voting was underway. There were appetizers and drinks being served while everyone walked around viewing the exhibit. A lot of people attended, which is surprising, as the town is not that big. There was about 30 photographs entered into the contest and there were an additional 20 or so pieces of artwork. Exhibited were paintings, larger photography, textile art, mixed media art, encaustic art and handmade books.

The building was very cool looking with interesting features and multiple levels, even an old-fashioned elevator. I attended the critique prior to the exhibit opening. It was worthwhile and valuable information was shared. I learned a lot from this experience from start to finish. I'm still mulling a few things over in my head. We had a fun time and enjoyed the atmosphere. All in all, it was a successful night, even though I didn't win. We had a really great time.
