My First Craft Show

I decided to dip my toe into selling at an in-person craft show. It was at the local high school on November 23rd. They offered table rentals as well, so there was less to purchase and lug into the show.

I didn't want to go all out and buy a tent, tables or be outdoors taking a chance on the weather, so this was perfect.

There was a lot of interest in the ornament painting kits. I heard a lot of, "Oh, look how cute!" and "What a cute idea!" A few people circled back around multiple times. In the end, only one sold.

This kind of surprised me because I had drastically reduced the price hoping to sell my remaining kits. The cost of shipping these boxes had gotten too high to sell them online.

After mulling it over, I'm going to work out a new way to package these kits to make them more economical.

Quite a few people thought the ceramic ornaments were glass. I don't think many people even noticed the wood ornaments on the Christmas tree. If I do another show, I plan on displaying the ornaments in a new way.

I'm also going to create new signage with my logo and list the products I sell. This will be displayed at the front of the table, so shoppers know before they even walk up to my booth.

It was a learning experience and I have made notes for things I would do differently next time. I would choose a different location, the vintage clothes racks behind me were a distraction. Some shoppers even thought I was selling them.

There were a good amount of shoppers, but not many purchasing. I've heard this is a common thing during an election year.

Greeting cards, specifically Holiday cards, were the best sellers for this show. All in all, it was a good experience for my first show. Everything went smooth and all my tech worked, which was a relief.
